One of the most important innovations comes from Asus, which every year pushes the technological boundaries one step further. The highlight of Asus ROG’s 2021 laptop lineup is the ROG Flow X13. Weighing in at only 2.9 pounds and measuring just 13 inches, this laptop is a literal game changer, the first gaming laptop that also converts into a tablet.
This 2-in-1 PC is arguably the most versatile gaming device in the world, serving as a tablet or a powerful gaming laptop. Add to that the all new ROG XG mobile, an innovative external GPU that increases the gaming capabilities and connectivity of the Flow X13. Gamers can now enjoy gaming power similar to that of a tower on a PC.
The Flow X13 features a 13-inch, 360-degree swivel screen that allows the laptop to be converted into a tablet to maximize user viewing and interactive experience. Asus also gives two options for the display: either a Full HD 120Hz display better equipped for gaming or an Ultra HD 4K option, fit for professional users like artists or content designers. You can count on color accuracy as well, as it's Pantone validated.
The Flow X13's touchscreen is produced by Corning Gorilla Glass, known for its resistance to scratches and the like, making it durable and suitable for everyday use. Weighing just 1.3kg and measuring 15.8mm thick, the Flow X13 is incredibly thin and light to carry and comes with a battery that allows it to run up to 10 hours of video playback. Designers at Asus have packed a GTX 1650 graphics processing unit inside this state of the art laptop to run the new 8-core, 35- to 54-watt AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS. AMD has recently released this new Ryzen 5000 series processor specifically for gaming and it truly takes the ROG Flow X13 laptop to the next level.
The XG Mobile weighs just 1 kg and is roughly 16 times smaller than other external GPUs on the market, despite the presence of a high-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU. This small eGPU is an innovative solution that allows you to be completely immersed in gaming action anywhere you can take your laptop.
In the past, other external GPUs have failed to rise to the occasion for gamers, but Asus has you covered. It comes with a redesigned cooling system to ensure quick and efficient heat dissipation. The XG Mobile can connect directly to the Flow X13 processor via a custom interface.
This custom interface is capable of dedicating bandwidth only for graphics, resulting in higher graphics performance than other external GPUs. It can also function as a multi-port hub, with four USB Type A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one SD card slot, one Gigabit Ethernet port, one DisplayPort 1.4, and one HDMI 2.0a display output. In addition, it comes with a built-in 280W AC adapter capable of simultaneously powering the XG Mobile as well as the laptop to which it is connected.
Details on the price and availability of ROG Flow X13 and XG Mobile have yet to be announced, but we can't wait to see how these two products will revolutionize the gaming market.
