Asus news at IFA 2019 Part 1
On Wednesday, September 4, 2019, Asus will show us what they have in store for us at the Berlin international exhibition of new technologies for consumers: IFA.
This is the perfect opportunity to revisit the brands 30 years of innovations, the international release of the ROG Phone II, the launch of the ZenBook Pro Duo in Europe and many other new products.
Overview of the press conference:
First of all this conference provided S.Y. Hsu (co-CEO of Asus) the opportunity to extend his heartfelt appreciation and thanks to all the customers and journalists around the world who have trusted Asus for the past 30 years. Three decades replete with innovations in the IT market that has made Asus one of the best brands in the industry.
Throughout these years of innumerable innovations Asus has been able to expand and develop in other sectors, such as smartphones (with its ZenFone series), health and coaching (with its VivoWatch series), high-end gaming (with ROG, Strix and TUF series) ... With the fierce intention, in the decades to come, to focus on gaming products and high-end devices for the ever more experienced and increasingly demanding users.
As for the products, the conference started with the new VivoWatch SP, this new version is a real 24/7 sports trainer on your wrist.
It incorporates 14-days of uninterrupted battery life, a highly resistant ceramic bezel, a clean and waterproof design, Gorilla Glass, anti-fingerprint coating, GPS, altimeter, ECG sensor (pre-amplified electrocardiograph sensor that measures the electrical activity of the heart) and a PPG sensor (photoplethysmography) ... What a coach!
With Health Connect Mobile all your data will be collected in your smartphone, allows to assess your health and vitality in all tranquility and give you personalized coaching and health advice with its HealthAI Technology (artificial intelligence technology) ... Asus will take good care of us in the future.

Let’s take this opportunity to revisit the ROG Phone II and the added new features.
We already knew, since the release in China on July 23, that the ROG Phone II would include:- A refresh rate of 120 Hz
- OLED screen that is even faster and more responsive
- A touch sampling rate of 240 Hz which reduces the tactile latency by 49 ms
- 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage
- The new Snapdragon 855+ chip with 2.96 Ghz of speed
- A high performance battery of 6000 mAh
- GameCool II and AeroActive Cooler II cooling systems
- Ultrasonic AirTrigger II technology
- Two-screen TwinView Dock II gaming system
- A Kunai ROG gamepad (in gamepad mode or in handheld mode)
Here are some of the added features in the ROG Phone II presented during the conference:
- 2 stereo speakers with DTS: X on the front
- Multiple Wi-Fi antenna
- 30W battery
- 10-bit HDR display
- 4 microphones with noise reduction
- A gallery of a hundred available games
- ROG Amoury Crate software suite
- Tencent Games partnership
Some of the numbers: Since its release in China there has been a craze for this gaming smartphone, with more than 10,000 units sold in 73 seconds and more than 2,000,000 orders in 24 hours ... enough to make us dizzy while we wait for its availability in France (around September 20th for 899 euros and by the end of 2019 for the Ultimate version for 1199 euros).
We also learned that by October 2019 Asus plans to optimize the screens of its ROG Zephyrus S GX701 laptops by upgrading them to 300 Hz refresh rate and 3 ms response time, enough to delight the most demanding gamers ...
In addition, we learned a bit more about the new AsusPro B9 (B9450) model which will be the lightest 14-inch(14.9 mm wide) notebook PC in the world (880 g) while maintaining a military-grade toughness (MIL- STD 810G)
Then S. Hsu was joined by Chris Walker (vice president of Intel) to present their new partnership on the Athena project which is meant to highlight and share the innovations in the IT sector developed by the two companies.
Whether its in the field of performance, responsiveness, artificial intelligence, interaction, connector optimization or battery life with a mind towards continually improving the quality of user experience and support... as the adage says, two are stronger than one.
Then the baton was passed to the co-CEO of Asus, Samson Hu, who starts his presentation of the ZenBook Pro Duo.
What additional information did we learn since Computex of 2019?
In terms of performance the ZenBook Pro Duo incorporates an Intel Core i9 processor and a GeForce RTX 2060.
The display also includes a 4K UHD Oled touch screen, Pantone validation for color accuracy and a 100% DCI-P3 (digital cinema color space) wide color palette. "DCI" refers to Digital Cinema Initiatives, a group of experts from the film industry).
For connectivity, it includes new super fast USB Thunderbolt 3 ports and a Wi Fi Intel® Wi Fi 6 (Gig +) card.
This new generation laptop PC will be ideal for video editing, photo editing, music production, computer coding and 3D graphics. Which makes it an ideal tool for professionals and creatives.
